Speaking in an exclusive interview with broadcaster Caleb Nii Boye, Obrafour revealed that he often feels uneasy and embarrassed when Sarkodie publicly credits him for his success, insisting that all honour and glory should be given to God.

His comments come in response to a viral video currently making rounds online, which has reignited conversations about Sarkodie’s deep respect for the veteran rapper.

Reflecting on their long-standing bond, Obrafour spoke warmly about Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, noting that while the younger rapper frequently acknowledges him as a key influence during his formative years—particularly through their classic collaboration “Saa Okodie No”—he believes such praise is unnecessary.

According to Obrafour, Sarkodie has grown into a powerful and independent force within the music industry, with a global brand that far exceeds any early influence he may have offered.

“If it were entirely up to me, I would rather see that honour directed to the Creator,” Obrafour said.

He added that from their very first meeting, he recognised Sarkodie’s immense potential and felt strongly that his journey was divinely orchestrated.

The rap icon also spoke candidly about his personal faith journey, revealing that the death of his mother deeply shook his beliefs. Once a devoted Seventh-day Adventist, Obrafour said the loss caused him to question his faith, struggling to understand how someone so committed and central to the family could pass away so suddenly.

However, his outlook changed following the unexpected success of his debut album Pae Mu Ka. According to Obrafour, the rapid breakthrough forced him to reflect deeply, eventually convincing him that his rise could not have happened without divine intervention.

This belief, he explained, is why he feels uncomfortable when people elevate him solely for his musical talent rather than acknowledging a higher power.

Obrafour’s reflections have since resonated with fans online, many praising both artists for their humility, faith, and enduring impact on Ghana’s hip-hop culture.
";s:11:"category_id";s:1:"6";s:8:"image_id";s:3:"229";s:12:"optional_url";N;s:9:"pageviews";s:1:"1";s:13:"comment_count";s:1:"0";s:9:"need_auth";s:1:"0";s:12:"slider_order";s:1:"1";s:14:"featured_order";s:1:"1";s:12:"is_scheduled";s:1:"0";s:10:"visibility";s:1:"1";s:17:"show_right_column";s:1:"1";s:9:"post_type";s:7:"article";s:10:"video_path";N;s:13:"video_storage";s:5:"local";s:9:"image_url";N;s:9:"video_url";N;s:16:"video_embed_code";N;s:7:"user_id";s:1:"6";s:6:"status";s:1:"1";s:7:"feed_id";N;s:8:"post_url";N;s:13:"show_post_url";s:1:"0";s:17:"image_description";N;s:17:"show_item_numbers";s:1:"0";s:14:"is_poll_public";s:1:"1";s:15:"link_list_style";s:156:"a:3:{i:1;a:2:{s:5:"style";s:4:"none";s:6:"status";i:0;}i:2;a:2:{s:5:"style";s:4:"none";s:6:"status";i:0;}i:3;a:2:{s:5:"style";s:4:"none";s:6:"status";i:0;}}";s:11:"recipe_info";N;s:9:"post_data";N;s:10:"updated_at";N;s:10:"created_at";s:19:"2026-01-22 10:28:27";s:10:"image_data";s:337:"img_bg::uploads/images/202601/image_870x580_6971fab2b2cc6.jpg||img_df::uploads/images/202601/image_870x_6971fab2bc9d6.jpg||img_sl::uploads/images/202601/image_694x532_6971fab2d0778.jpg||img_md::uploads/images/202601/image_430x256_6971fab2d8886.jpg||img_sm::uploads/images/202601/image_140x98_6971fab2e0123.jpg||img_mi::jpg||img_st::local";s:13:"category_name";s:13:"Entertainment";s:13:"category_slug";s:13:"entertainment";s:14:"category_color";s:7:"#ad1356";s:15:"author_username";s:6:"Eunice";s:11:"author_slug";s:6:"eunice";s:15:"lang_short_form";s:2:"en";}i:1;O:8:"stdClass":45:{s:2:"id";s:3:"162";s:7:"lang_id";s:1:"1";s:5:"title";s:83:"Blame Glen Boateng and Ground up if anything happens to me - Kwesi Arthur cries out";s:4:"slug";s:81:"blame-glen-boateng-and-ground-up-if-anything-happens-to-me-kwesi-arthur-cries-out";s:10:"title_hash";N;s:8:"keywords";N;s:7:"summary";N;s:7:"content";s:4187:"
Ghanaian rapper and singer Kwesi Arthur has gone public with explosive allegations against his former management company, Ground Up Chale, and its CEO Glen Boateng, claiming they are demanding US$150,000 for him to use images of himself in an upcoming independent project while asserting ownership over his image, music, and brand dating back to 2016.

In a strongly worded statement shared on social media late Wednesday evening, January 21, 2026, Kwesi Arthur said he has had no affiliation with Ground Up Chale since the release of his debut album Son of Jacob in 2022, yet the company continues to claim rights to his catalogue and likeness.

According to the multiple award-winning artist, despite years of working under the label, he received no financial returns from his music and has endured what he describes as ongoing threats, manipulation, and intimidation from Glen Boateng.

“Someone is living off my money and hard work while trying to control my life,” Kwesi Arthur stated.

The most alarming part of the statement came when the rapper issued a public warning, suggesting that the situation had escalated beyond a contractual disagreement:

“If anything happens to me, the world should know where it came from.”

Kwesi Arthur further accused Ground Up Chale of falsely claiming ownership over his image, sound recordings, branding, and intellectual property from the start of his career, despite his exit from the label years ago. He described the alleged demand for $150,000 as an attempt to financially and creatively cripple his independent comeback.

As of the time of publication, Ground Up Chale and CEO Glen Boateng have not issued an official response to the allegations.

The revelations have sparked intense debate on social media, reigniting conversations about artist exploitation, contract transparency, and power imbalance in the Ghanaian music industry, with fans and industry players calling for accountability and legal clarity. He further accused Boateng of working “around the clock” to prevent him from releasing new music independently, stating that the prolonged dispute has taken a severe toll on his mental health and overall wellbeing. Kwesi Arthur said that for the safety of himself and his family, he felt left with no option but to “publicly share the truth.”

The post quickly went viral on X (formerly Twitter), triggering widespread reactions from fans, industry stakeholders, and media outlets. Within hours, hashtags such as #FreeKwesiArthur, #KwesiArthur, #GroundUpChale, and #GlenBoateng trended nationwide in Ghana, as supporters demanded transparency and accountability while calling attention to alleged exploitation and power imbalances in artist–label relationships.

Many creatives and commentators also used the moment to renew calls for stronger legal protections, clearer contracts, and mental health support for artists navigating disputes within the music industry.Ground Up Chale, which once propelled Kwesi Arthur to mainstream success through early hit releases and high-profile collaborations, has not issued any public response to the allegations as of press time. The company was founded by Glen Boateng and rose to prominence in the late 2010s as a major force in Ghana’s rapidly growing hip-hop and Afrobeats scene.

Kwesi Arthur has been operating as an independent artist since around 2022–2023, following his exit from Ground Up Chale. He subsequently launched his own imprint, Sisi Music, and released projects including This Is Not The Tape III, distributed through platforms that emphasise artist ownership and direct fan support, notably under the Proud 2 Pay model.

His fallout with Ground Up Chale had previously spilled into the public domain, with now-deleted social media posts in which the artist accused the label of unfair treatment regarding publishing and distribution arrangements—claims that resurfaced following his latest statement and have reignited wider industry debate.

The judgment, reported by GHOne News on 20 January 2026, brings to a close a legal battle that began in May 2025, when Empress Gifty filed a GH₵20 million suit against Agradaa. The lawsuit accused the evangelist of making defamatory and slanderous remarks during several live online sessions and sought a perpetual injunction to prevent further defamatory comments, as well as the removal of all offensive content from Agradaa’s social media platforms.

In December 2025, Agradaa formally withdrew her allegations, admitting through her legal representatives at Agyaa Asamani Law Consult that the statements were untrue and had been made “in the spur of the moment.” She issued an unreserved public apology to Empress Gifty, acknowledging the damage caused to her reputation, career, and personal life, and extended her apology to the musician’s family, friends, and associates.

Confirming the settlement in a press release dated 20 January 2026, Agradaa’s lawyer, Richard Asare Baffour, Esq., stated that both parties reached an amicable agreement, which was subsequently adopted by the court as a Consent Judgment.

As part of the ruling, Agradaa was directed to pay GH₵100,000, covering legal fees and related costs. She was also required to publicly retract her defamatory statements and issue a formal apology. Additionally, the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) was instructed to remove all related publications by both parties from social media platforms.

Mr Baffour confirmed that Agradaa has fully complied with the court’s orders, having paid the amount in full and issued the required public apology to Empress Gifty.
